New 66 classroom K-8 Language Immersion facility located on the old J.M. Alexander Middle School site.
The construction manager for the New K-8 Language Immersion North project is working through final inspections by Mecklenburg County Building Standards and County Fire. These inspections have identified that the facility will require a booster pump on the fire sprinkler system to alleviate issues with lower than anticipated water pressure from Charlotte Water. Building modifications are taking place and the pump has been ordered. Otherwise the building and all finishes is substantially complete; furnishings will be allowed once the pump is installed and approved which is scheduled for July. The Hambright Road improvements have started and the existing underground utilities have been relocated. The existing track has been resurfaced and will receive final topping and striping shortly. The team is awaiting the school naming and mascot approval; this will allow school signage and gym flooring to be finalized.
